<\/p>\n LOS ANGELES, Calif. \u2013 Pacific put up a strong fight but came out on the wrong side of a 4-0 decision against UC Santa Barbara on Friday morning from the campus of UCLA.<\/p>\n The doubles portion of the match was a fierce battle that saw all three courts decided by a combined five games. Sophomores Vraj Patel<\/a> and Nico Rating<\/a> pulled out the 7-5 win on doubles court three to put Pacific in a clinch position for the match’s first point. However, two close losses on courts one and two turned the tide towards UC Santa Barbara (2-0).<\/p>\n Moving to the singles half of the match, Pacific (1-1) could not gather enough momentum to mount a comeback. In his first collegiate action, freshman Reuben De Klerk<\/a> was locked in a tightly contested match on court four. Sophomores Vraj Patel<\/a> and Jonty Giesen<\/a> were engaged in their own close matches with the latter forcing a decisive third set against his opponent on court three.<\/p>\n Faced with a nationally ranked opponent, graduate Terence Das<\/a> was unable to overcome his opponent on court one, who ranked 70th in the country. Junior Christof Schaertlin Coffey<\/a> was faced an even tougher opponent on court two in the 32nd ranked player nationally.<\/p>\n Coming up next for the Tigers is the loser between New Mexico and No. 10 UCLA that will take place at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n Stay Social
