BC Lions set to visit 5 Greater Victoria high schools in February<\/p>\n

The BC Lions will be back in Greater Victoria next month, this time in classrooms rather than on the field.<\/p>\n
B.C.\u2019s lone CFL franchise is set to visit five local high schools in February as part of its Be More Than a Bystander program, a province-wide initiative focused on education and community engagement.<\/p>\n
Lambrick Park Secondary will host the Lions on Feb. 10.<\/p>\n
Royal Bay and Mount Douglas will follow on Feb. 11, with visits to Belmont and Esquimalt scheduled for Feb. 12.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an organization, we strive to inspire positive change that strengthens and uplifts our community,\u201d said Lions director of community partnerships Jamie Taras.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur players are the messengers communicating hope, resilience and the quest for excellence to young people across the province.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Be More Than a Bystander program is a partnership between the BC Lions and the Ending Violence Association of British Columbia.<\/p>\n
The program focuses on breaking the silence surrounding gender-based violence by providing clear language and real-world examples of how to intervene safely and communicate that violence and abuse are not acceptable.<\/p>\n
Stops in Greater Victoria are part of a much larger effort by the Lions, who will visit more than 125 schools across B.C. before the start of their 2026 training camp, which opens in May.<\/p>\n
The February stops also continue a growing footprint for the Lions in the region.<\/p>\n
In 2024, the club played a regular-season game against the Ottawa Redblacks at Royal Athletic Park. Last year, they returned for a pre-season matchup against the Calgary Stampeders in Langford.<\/p>\n
