Well, he’s tied for first. With 18-year old Blades Brown.<\/p>\n

Brown had a remarkable, astounding, brilliant Friday second round. He set a course-record 60 at the Nicklaus Tournament Course in La Quinta, California.<\/p>\n

He is 17-under through two rounds after shooting a 67 in the first round.<\/p>\n

Except this isn’t even Brown’s first golf tourney of the week.<\/p>\n

Blades Brown already golfed in a whole entire tournament before The AmEx.<\/p>\n

He played on the Korn Ferry Tour (the PGA Tour’s minor league) to start the week, tying for 17th in the Bahamas in a tourney that finished Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He then had to get to California to tee off Thursday.<\/p>\n

Brown opened with a 67, but that must’ve just been jet lag, because he came out blistering hot in the second round.<\/p>\n

“Arrived here around 8 p.m. Wednesday night,” Brown\u00a0told Golf Digest<\/a>. “Got some Panda Express. Got some groceries. Slept, started sleeping at 10. Then woke up at around 5, got here a little early to make a couple putts, because, I mean, it was blowing 30 the entire way [in the Bahamas], and then you get here and then it’s perfect. So it’s two completely different situations. But I had a lot of fun today, and bogey-free round, I’ll take that any day of the week.”<\/p>\n

Brown had already made a big decision in his career when he chose to skip college golf and turn pro, having already medaled at the U.S. Amateur in 2023.<\/p>\n

Looks like an incredible call at the moment.<\/p>\n
