The curious career of Khalil Coe<\/a> took another disturbing turn Friday in Las Vegas.
Coe came in almost eight pounds overweight for his 10-round light heavyweight fight against Jesse Hart<\/a> scheduled for Saturday night. Philadelphia\u2019s Hart met his contractual obligation by weighing in at 174.6 pounds, but Coe stunningly stepped on the Nevada State Athletic Commission\u2019s scale at 182.8 pounds.
An irate Hart shoved Coe when they were posed face to face. The two-time super middleweight championship challenger agreed nonetheless to move forward with their co-feature on the Raymond Muratalla-Andy Cruz<\/a> undercard at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
Coe (10-1-1, 8 KOs), of Jersey City, New Jersey, was scheduled to face Hart (31-3, 25 KOs) on October 11 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Hart\u2019s hometown of Philadelphia. Coe sustained a hand injury<\/a> late in training camp, though, which caused a three-month postponement.
The 29-year-old Coe avenged his lone loss in his last bout by stopping Mexico\u2019s Manuel Gallegos<\/a> (22-3-1, 19 KOs) in the sixth round May 30 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Gallegos dropped Coe four times and upset him by ninth-round TKO in Coe\u2019s previous bout, which took place in November 2024 in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Coe, who was a touted amateur, previously settled for a shocking four-round majority draw with huge underdog Aaron Casper in Coe\u2019s second professional fight four years ago.<\/p>\n

Muratalla (23-0, 17 KOs), of Fontana, California, and Cuba\u2019s Cruz (6-0, 3 KOs) both made weight for DAZN\u2019s 12-round main event Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Muratalla, who will make the first defense of his IBF lightweight title, officially weighed 134.6 pounds, slightly more than Cruz (134.4). Cruz, a 2021 Olympic gold medalist, is the mandatory challenger for Muratalla\u2019s championship.<\/p>\n

DAZN\u2019s undercard coverage is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).<\/p>\n
