Japanese Naomi Osaka advanced to the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open by winning against Latvian Anastasija Sevastova 6-1, 6-0 in only 49 minutes at the IGA Stadium in Montreal on Sunday. It\u2019es the second quickest win in her career!<\/p>\n

Osaka will play the winner of the match between American Amanda Anisimova, the No 5 seed, and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 10 seed, next.<\/p>\n

The Japanese will play her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal since Doha 2024. \u201cI had a solid plan coming in here, she said after the win. \u201cIt just happened to work out really well. This is the kind of result you\u2019re looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sevastova, now ranked No 387, had just won against American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-1).<\/p>\n
