{"id":4309,"date":"2025-07-18T02:08:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-18T02:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/4309\/"},"modified":"2025-07-18T02:08:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T02:08:07","slug":"ncsa-supporting-georgia-tech-in-new-ai-venture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/4309\/","title":{"rendered":"NCSA Supporting Georgia Tech in New AI Venture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>July 17, 2025 \u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsa.illinois.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National Center for Supercomputing Applications<\/a> is lending its expertise and institutional supercomputing knowledge to assist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatech.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Georgia Tech<\/a> in building and operating a new artificial intelligence-centered supercomputer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hpcwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ncsa-georgia-tech-logos.png\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-182356\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ncsa-georgia-tech-logos-300x241.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"181\"  \/><\/a>Nexus, a next-generation, national-scale computational resource, will integrate cutting-edge heterogeneous hardware, AI-accelerated computing and advanced software services to unify scientific and engineering research workflows for researchers throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosting Nexus signals that Georgia Tech is ready to lead at the highest level,\u201d said Tim Lieuwen, Georgia Tech\u2019s executive vice president for research. \u201cIt brings a national asset to our campus, creates new opportunities for faculty and students, and strengthens our state\u2019s role in shaping the future of AI and advanced computing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNexus is more than a supercomputer \u2013 it\u2019s a symbol of what\u2019s possible when leading institutions work together to advance science,\u201d said Charles Lee Isbell Jr., chancellor of the University of Illinois and former dean of Georgia Tech\u2019s College of Computing. \u201cI\u2019m proud that my two academic homes have partnered on this project that will move science, and society, forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NCSA\u2019s Associate Director of Integrated Cyberinfrastructure, Tim Boerner, is a co-principal investigator of the $20 million award from the U.S. National Science Foundation.
