Disney\u2019s Percy Jackson<\/a> franchise has officially reached a long-overdue turning point, and honestly, it couldn\u2019t come soon enough. After years of baggage tied to the failed movie adaptations, the Disney+ series is finally positioned to move forward, adapting stories we’ve never seen beyond the page.<\/p>\n

Beginning with Percy Jackson and the Olympians<\/a> season 3, Disney will be entering fresh live-action territory for the franchise with an adaptation of The Titan’s Curse, the third novel in Rick Riordan’s initial Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series. This is incredibly exciting, as it means we’re finally leaving the Percy Jackson franchise’s worst era behind.<\/p>\n

We’re Finally Getting Fresh Live-Action Adaptations Beginning With Percy Jackson Season 3<\/p>\n

Released in 2010 and 2013, both of the original Percy Jackson movies from 20th Century Fox only got as far as The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters, leaving the rest of Rick Riordan\u2019s popular book saga untouched. Having been widely panned by critics and audiences alike, the Percy Jackson movies were incredibly controversial and considered to be far too unfaithful to the original books.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Disney\u2019s first two seasons of the Percy Jackson series<\/a> corrected many of those mistakes, featuring less controversial (and Rick Riordan-approved) changes that largely maintained the core essence of the original novels. That said, they were still adaptations of books audiences had already seen adapted to screen previously.<\/p>\n

Now, Percy Jackson season 3 is set to mark the end of an era that the franchise has effectively been trapped in since 2010. By adapting The Titan’s Curse, everything moving forward will be newer and fresher, having never been adapted in live action before. That’s a pretty exciting turning point for the franchise as a whole.<\/p>\n

Netflix’s Series Of Unfortunate Events Had A Similar Turning Point<\/p>\n

Netflix\u2019s Series of Unfortunate Events series had a similar turning point once it was able to move beyond Lemony Snicket’s first three books, which were previously adapted into a single film. <\/p>\n

As great as 2004’s original Series of Unfortunate Events starring Jim Carrey<\/a> was, the Netflix series naturally became more engaging the moment it entered new territory that hadn’t been adapted for live-action before. Now, Disney’s Percy Jackson is also set to enter the same exciting new territory fans have long been waiting for.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, it’s also great to learn that fans won’t have to wait nearly as long for Percy Jackson season 3<\/a> compared to the wait between the first and second seasons, as it was recently confirmed by Disney that the third season is set to stream later this year.<\/p>\n

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 is expected to begin streaming late 2026 on Disney+.<\/p>\n
