2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button has done it all. He\u2019s reached the pinnacle of F1, become a champion in Super GT,\u00a0 competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, raced in the NASCAR Cup Series \u2013 he\u2019s even driven a NASCAR stock car at Le Mans!<\/p>\n
Last year, he announced plans to retire following the 2025 World Endurance Championship finale at the 8 Hours of Bahrain. But like all racers, you can\u2019t just switch it off. He\u2019s still running some historics and vintage cars, and during the Rolex 24 broadcast on Peacock, he expressed a desire to run something else.<\/p>\n
Speaking with Marty Snider Steve Letarte, Snider asked if he was really done with professional motorsports.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell you just talked about NASCAR going to San Diego,\u201d he said with a smile, drawing laughs. \u201cMy local race. now (Button lives in the Los Angeles area). Has anyone got a Truck that wants me to drive?\u201d<\/p>\n
He later added: \u201cIf it\u2019s got a wheel and gearstick, I\u2019m there \u2026 So yeah, I would love to do a Truck race if it\u2019s possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
NASCAR is taking all three of its national divisions to Naval Base Coronado on the weekend of June 19-21, racing at a brand-new street course on an active military base in San Diego.<\/p>\n

Button has some NASCAR experience, and not just in the famous Garage 56 entry at Le Mans. The 46-year-old Englishman made three Cup starts during the 2023 season, all at road\/street courses. He started 24th and finished 18th at COTA, qualified an impressive eighth at the Chicago Street Course before finishing 21st, and made his most recent start at the Indianapolis Road Course where he started 31st and finished 28th.<\/p>\n
It’s certainly possible for him to get on the grid and surely several Truck Series teams would love to have an F1 World Champion behind the wheel. There’s also the Kaulig Racing all-star truck, with Ram pushing to bring in big names to drive its No. 25 entry throughout the year.
