{"id":431813,"date":"2026-01-25T06:55:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T06:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/431813\/"},"modified":"2026-01-25T06:55:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T06:55:12","slug":"fatal-shooting-in-surrey-likely-a-targeted-incident-says-ihit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/431813\/","title":{"rendered":"Fatal shooting in Surrey likely a targeted incident, says IHIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is conducting a homicide investigation after an early morning shooting in Surrey.<\/p>\n<p>IHIT now says it believes the shooting, which took place at a home on 91st Avenue near 125th Street, was targeted but not related to the B.C. gang conflict or extortion. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe investigative team believes this to be a targeted homicide, between people known to each other, and they are working to understand the totality of the circumstances surrounding the shooting,\u201d said IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe presence of gun violence in a residential neighbourhood continues to be of concern for communities and police. We are liaising with our policing partners to collect evidence, conduct interviews and advance this investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Day 24 of 2026: Police are on scene at what SPS describes as a shooting incident that happened earlier this morning in the 2500 block of 91 Ave. More details awaited. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HvY13acAp5\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/HvY13acAp5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sarbraj Singh Kahlon (@sarbrajskahlon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sarbrajskahlon\/status\/2015119971819389374?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 24, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Police were called to the home shortly before 5 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon arrival, members located two men apparently suffering from gunshot wounds,\u201d the Surrey Police Service (SPS) said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSPS officers, Surrey Fire Services, and BCEHS rendered aid to the victims.
