{"id":432199,"date":"2026-01-25T11:33:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T11:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/432199\/"},"modified":"2026-01-25T11:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T11:33:08","slug":"big-bear-bald-eagles-jackie-and-shadow-lay-first-egg-of-2026-kfi-am-640","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/432199\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Bear Bald Eagles Jackie and Shadow Lay First Egg of 2026 | KFI AM 640"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Big Bear\u2019s most famous residents are growing their family again.<\/p>\n<p>Jackie and Shadow, the beloved bald eagle pair whose nest is watched by viewers around the world, welcomed their first egg of the 2026 season on Friday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/friendsofbigbearvalley.org\/eagles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Friends of Big Bear Valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The nonprofit, which operates the popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B4-L2nfGcuE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">live nest cameras<\/a>, says Jackie showed signs of labor just after 4:20 p.m. Within minutes, she laid the egg, and Shadow arrived shortly after to check in on the season\u2019s first addition.<\/p>\n<p>The pair successfully raised two eaglets last year, Sunny and Gizmo, who fledged in June and became internet favorites. Jackie and Shadow are the only known bald eagle pair to remain year-round in the San Bernardino National Forest, nesting in a towering Jeffrey pine overlooking Big Bear Lake.<\/p>\n<p>With the first egg now in the nest, eagle watchers everywhere are once again tuning in to the live cameras on YouTube, waiting to see what the rest of the season brings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Big Bear\u2019s most famous residents are growing their family again.
