For a second day in a row, Nova Scotians began to dig out after a strong winter storm began moving through the region late Sunday.<\/p>\n
This has prompted several cancellations or closures in many communities.<\/p>\n
Schools<\/p>\n
All HRCE Schools closed, offices delayed by 2 hrs<\/p>\n
Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education closed<\/p>\n
South Shore Regional Centre for Education schools and offices closed<\/p>\n
Tri County Regional Centre for Education schools closed<\/p>\n
Strait Regional Centre for Education schools and offices closed<\/p>\n
All CCRCE schools (Cumberland County, Colchester County, Pictou County and the Municipality of East Hants) will be closed<\/p>\n
Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education schools closed<\/p>\n
Dalhousie University\u2019s Halifax and Truro campus, and the University of King\u2019s College, will delay opening until 12 p.m. due to weather<\/p>\n
Saint Mary\u2019s University campus will delay opening until 12 p.m.<\/p>\n
MSVU \u2013 delaying opening until 12 p.m.<\/p>\n
NSCC \u2013 All Halifax-area campuses are closed along with most of its campuses around the province with the exception of the Valley and Kingstec.<\/p>\n
Halifax Transit<\/p>\n
Snow routes for Halifax Transit buses are expected to continue to be in effect on Jan. 27. Passengers should expect delays and allow extra time to arrive at their destination.<\/p>\n
Access-a-bus service is also expected to be delayed.<\/p>\n
There are currently no impacts to ferry service, beyond the ongoing 30-minute service disruption for the Alderney ferry.<\/p>\n
Service disruptions will be announced as needed via @hfxtransit.bsky.social on Bluesky and our website.<\/p>\n
Halifax Stanfield International Airport<\/p>\n
Officials recommending passengers check with their airlines before heading out to the airport.<\/p>\n
Solid Waste<\/p>\n
Curbside collection of solid waste for Jan. 27, is planned to continue as scheduled. For Jan. 27 collection, residents are askedto not place waste curbside until the morning to allow for snow clearing operations to continue overnight.<\/p>\n
The Otter Lake Waste Facility, Materials Recycling Facility and Organics Management Facility will be open.<\/p>\n
Municipal offices\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
All municipal offices, including in-person\u00a0Planning & Development\u00a0permit offices and Customer Service Centres,\u00a0are\u00a0delaying opening\u00a0until 10 a.m., Jan. 27. If\u00a0there are additional\u00a0delays or\u00a0closures,\u00a0the municipality\u00a0will provide an\u00a0update.<\/p>\n
Employees who can work from home are being asked to do so.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
All essential services, as well as 311, winter operations and Halifax Transit are\u00a0maintaining\u00a0operations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Regional Council meeting scheduled for Jan. 27 will proceed as scheduled.<\/p>\n
Parks & Recreation\u00a0<\/p>\n
Most municipally-owned and operated recreation facilities will be open as scheduled on Jan. 27. Residents are encouraged to call their local recreation centre to confirm if it is open.<\/p>\n
