First Lady Melania Trump made a rare public statement this week during an appearance on Fox News and it truly stunned \u201cThe View\u201d host Whoopi Goldberg. In fact, the ABC host barely recognized her, because it\u2019s been so long since the first lady has spoken out.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday morning, Trump appeared on \u201cFox & Friends,\u201d and said she was \u201cagainst the violence\u201d in Minnesota. She encouraged protestors to protest peacefully, which they have been doing, and added that \u201cwe need to unify in these times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWho was that?!\u201d Goldberg bellowed as the clip ended. \u201cShe looks so familiar, I don\u2019t know who she was. Who was that?!\u201d<\/p>\n

At that, the ABC moderator turned to executive producer Brian Teta to dramatically ask for a proper answer on who was speaking. Teta confirmed it was the first lady, and host Sunny Hostin added that she was speaking in front of a banner that is currently promoting her new film<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, well that\u2019s why she\u2019s against violence,\u201d Goldberg retorted. \u201cOK! Well, OK, I can\u2019t remember the last time I saw her. I was so excited!\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed, Trump is in the middle of promoting her new Amazon MGM film, and even screened it at the White House on Saturday, following the killing of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. It is directed by Brett Ratner, marking his return to Hollywood after he was accused of sexual assault in 2017 (he has denied the allegations).<\/p>\n

Back in December, \u201cThe View\u201d host Joy Behar was unsurprised to learn of Ratner\u2019s history when she and her co-hosts discussed whether they\u2019d be watching the film at some point.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf [Trump] had somebody direct it who\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0have a record in some kind of sexual assault, I would be surprised,\u201d\u00a0Behar said at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe View\u201d airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.<\/p>\n
