{"id":443799,"date":"2026-01-30T21:22:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T21:22:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/443799\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T21:22:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T21:22:16","slug":"barcelona-midfielder-fermin-lopez-to-extend-contract-through-2031","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/443799\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona midfielder Ferm\u00edn L\u00f3pez to extend contract through 2031"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">BARCELONA, Spain (AP) \u2014 Barcelona and breakout midfielder Ferm\u00edn L\u00f3pez have agreed to extend his contract through June 2031, the Spanish club said Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 22-year-old Ferm\u00edn is one of the club\u2019s top young talents, along with Lamine Yamal and Pedri Gonz\u00e1lez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ferm\u00edn was close to a move to Chelsea last summer, but stayed at Barcelona and has remained a versatile member of Hansi Flick\u2019s side thanks to his scoring instinct.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He has netted 10 goals this season, including five in the Champions League, along with making 11 assists despite not always starting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Barcelona called the new deal with Ferm\u00edn a \u201cstrategic decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ferm\u00edn joined Barcelona when he was 13.
