{"id":443913,"date":"2026-01-30T22:33:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T22:33:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/443913\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T22:33:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T22:33:16","slug":"6-b-c-cities-named-most-livable-but-none-among-most-affordable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/443913\/","title":{"rendered":"6 B.C. cities named &#8216;most livable&#8217; but none among most affordable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six Metro Vancouver cities are in the top 10 \u201cmost livable\u201d Canadian cities, according to a national ranking.<\/p>\n<p>The Globe and Mail\u00a0recently released a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/business\/article-canada-most-livable-cities-third-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Canada\u2019s top 100<\/a> most livable cities, with North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Pitt Meadows taking the top three spots.<\/p>\n<p>New Westminster is number five, Vancouver is number nine, and White Rock comes in 10th.<\/p>\n<p>The ranking assessed 454 cities using 58 variables across 10 categories, including economy, housing, demographics, health care, safety, education, community, amenities, transportation, and climate. It compared 454 cities across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur rankings are designed to help Canadians identify communities where they can flourish based on their individual circumstances,\u201d wrote\u00a0The Globe and Mail.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper also broke down the rankings by city size: major, large, mid-sized, and small. Again, three Metro Vancouver cities have most of the top spots.<\/p>\n<p>North Vancouver has the top spot for a large city, West Vancouver for a mid-sized, and Pitt Meadows for a small.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2238629\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/pitt-meadows-livable.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2238629\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wirestock Creators\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The City of Pitt Meadows is proud of its ranking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPitt Meadows offers residents a unique balance of natural beauty and urban convenience. Nestled between the Fraser River and the Golden Ears Mountains, the city combines accessible urban amenities with abundant greenspace and farmland, while maintaining a safe, welcoming and inclusive small-town community,\u201d the city wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittmeadows.ca\/our-community\/news\/media-releases\/pitt-meadows-ranked-3-most-livable-city-canada-and-1-small-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">press release<\/a>, shortly after the ranking was published.<\/p>\n<p>However, no Metro-Vancouver cities topped the list when it comes to housing affordability, one of the features on the list.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, not a single B.C. city made it into the top 100 for housing affordability. Nine of the top 10 in this category were Quebec cities, including Mont-Laurier, Thetford Mines, and Rivi\u00e8re-du-Loup.<\/p>\n<p>Do you live in one of these cities? What makes them livable?
