A key member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders\u2019 secondary has signed an extension with the CFL club.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the team announced that DaMarcus Fields<\/a> has extended his contract for two years.<\/p>\n

Fields, who originally hails from Taylor, Texas, has been a core member of the team\u2019s secondary since joining the Riders in 2024 as a CFL rookie. Since then, he\u2019s appeared in all 36 regular-season games, the team noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe posted career-highs in 2025 in defensive tackles (57), special teams tackles (11), interceptions (two) and team-leading eight pass knockdowns over 18 regular season games. He also ranked third on the team in defensive plays,\u201d the Saskatchewan Roughriders said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe started both the Western Final and the 112th\u00a0Grey Cup, earning five defensive tackles and one special teams tackle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before joining the Riders and the CFL, Fields signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent, playing two games for the Saints in 2022. He moved to the Washington Commanders\u2019 practice roster in October of 2022 and stayed with the team until August of 2023.<\/p>\n

During his collegiate career, Fields played 54 games over six seasons with Texas Tech, accumulating 224 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, four recovered fumbles and 45 passes defended.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis strong senior season where he registered 50 tackles, four tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and team-high 11 passes defended\u00a0earned him an invitation to the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl,\u201d the Riders noted.<\/p>\n
