It’s the point in the offseason when contending teams are adding versatile players to their rosters.<\/p>\n

That’s what the Seattle Mariners<\/a> did on Saturday when they signed Will Wilson to a contract, according to Austin Malutic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wilson made it to the major leagues for the first time in 2025 with the Cleveland Guardians<\/a>. He batted just .192 (15-78) with four doubles, two doubles and two steals.<\/p>\n

He played both second base and third base for Cleveland.<\/p>\n

He was originally a first-round pick, No. 15 overall, by the Angels in the 2019 MLB Draft out of North Carolina State.<\/p>\n

Wilson spent most of his minor league career with the San Francisco Giants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He joined the Cleveland organization for the first time in 2025 and also played in 70 games at Triple-A Columbus. At that level, he hit .246 with a .760 OPS (12 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs).<\/p>\n

Wilson will be a longshot to make the MLB roster for the Mariners in the spring, but they don’t have a ton of depth at second base or third base right now, so if he makes a good first impression, he could factor into the early-season thinking, at least until they work out those positions more permanently.<\/p>\n

It’s certainly a decent opportunity for Wilson to show that he belongs in the major leagues again.<\/p>\n
