UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and fan-favorite contender Diego Lopes rematch in the night’s five-round main event, while all-action lightweights Dan Hooker and Benoit Saint Denis clash in the co-headliner of UFC’s second numbered event in as many weeks on Paramount.<\/p>\n

Volkanovski (27-4) is Uncrowned’s No. 8-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the world<\/a>. Already hailed as one of the greatest featherweights in MMA history, Volkanovski kicked off his second reign as UFC champion this past April with a thorough decision win over Lopes. The 37-year-old future Hall of Famer told Uncrowned ahead of UFC 325 that, despite his age in a division that historically favors younger fighters, he doesn’t plan on retiring this weekend “unless things go horrendously wrong.”<\/a><\/p>\n

Lopes (27-7) bounced back from his title loss to Volkanovski by scoring a scintillating knockout of Jean Silva<\/a> after a wild back-and-forth fight this past September at Noche UFC. The 31-year-old Lopes had won five consecutive UFC bouts prior to his setback against Volkanovski.<\/p>\n

In the evening’s co-main event, lightweights Hooker (24-13) and Saint Denis (16-3, 1 NC) collide in a bout that promises fireworks between two of the division’s most exciting contenders.<\/p>\n

The UFC 325 start time for the preliminary card is at 5 p.m. ET on Paramount+. The main card begins live at 9 p.m. ET on Paramount+, free for all subscribers.<\/p>\n

Chuck: I have a feeling you can talk about your guy Oban Elliott\u2019s bout with Jonathan Micalef, Petesy, so I\u2019ll go with Torrez Finley versus Australia\u2019s own Jacob Malkoun. Finley is built like Khalil Rountree if Rountree were hit with a shrink gun that dropped him to a middleweight. He hits like Rountree, too. I liked Malkoun\u2019s last fight with Andre Petroski, and that body shot he delivered still hurts to watch.<\/p>\n

Feel like that one will deliver some action, and, in the end, somebody will get knocked \u201cThe Chuck\u201d out. (That\u2019s a new phrase I\u2019m implementing in 2026 \u2014 he got knocked the Chuck out. Has a nice ring, yeah?).<\/p>\n

Petesy: Can we make a segment out of this? Perhaps we can have a \u201cKnocked the Chuck out\u201d section each week where we declare our most likely candidate to enter the shadow realm. Just throwing out feelers here, but it\u2019s too catchy to be left on the shelf.<\/p>\n

Chuck: You\u2019re on, Petesy. Let\u2019s do it.<\/p>\n

Petesy: Deal! And you\u2019re damn right I\u2019m going with Oban Elliott vs. Jonathan Micalef. They didn\u2019t take their foot off the gas for my Welsh brother with this one. It reminds me of Payton Talbott being matched with Felipe Lima on the back of his loss to Raoni Barcelos \u2014 it doesn\u2019t feel like a step back in competition at all. Sink or swim moment for \u201cThe Bad Guy,\u201d but I think this one could be on the shortlist for Fight of the Night if things go as I expect.<\/p>\n

At age 37, Alexander Volkanovski has been upfront and honest in the lead-up to Saturday night, acknowledging that he’s nearing the end of his legendary career.<\/p>\n

Volkanovski reiterated numerous times this week that he doesn’t plan on UFC 325 becoming his swan song, though he did admit on Uncrowned’s “The Ariel Helwani Show”<\/a> that those plans could change if Diego Lopes manages to pull off the upset in Sydney, Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow many more do I have? If I was to get beaten up [by Lopes], am I going to come back to fight? No,” Volkanovski said. “But that’s not my plans. Unless things go horrendously wrong, I’m planning on getting back out there.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was talk straight after my last fight, I’m like, ‘How many more? You never know.’ There were talks like that,” Volkanovski added. “But as soon as I started training, I was like, ‘Ah, let’s keep going.’ \u2026 I can\u2019t promise another three or four years, but I don\u2019t think I\u2019m retiring after this one.\u201d<\/p>\n
