Norway\u2019s Nicolai Budkov Kjaer<\/a> has surged to sixth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah after winning his second consecutive ATP Challenger Tour title in Astana on Sunday.<\/p>\n The 18-year-old was outside the Top 10 in the Live Race To Jeddah just two weeks ago but has propelled himself firmly into Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF<\/a> qualification contention after winning 10 consecutive matches across events in Tampere, Finland, and Astana, Kazakhstan. The teen captured 125 points from the two tournaments.<\/p>\n The #NextGenATP teen is in a good position to qualify for his maiden trip to the 20-and-under event, held from 17-21 December and discussed his Jeddah hopes following his latest triumph.<\/p>\n “I’m going to stay on the clay, I’m trying to push for the Next Gen Finals instead of going to the US,” Budkov Kjaer explained. “I’m choosing not to go to the US Open<\/a> [qualifying]. The American, a finalist in Jeddah last year, did not drop a set en route to the last 16 before he fell to friend Alex Michelsen<\/a>.<\/p>\n Shang Juncheng<\/a>, currently 15th in the Live Race To Jeddah, made his long-awaited return from injury in Toronto.
