{"id":447526,"date":"2026-02-01T16:54:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T16:54:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/447526\/"},"modified":"2026-02-01T16:54:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T16:54:07","slug":"phil-mickelson-to-miss-first-couple-of-liv-golf-events-due-to-family-health-matter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/447526\/","title":{"rendered":"Phil Mickelson to miss first couple of LIV Golf events due to family health matter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Phil Mickelson has confirmed he will miss the opening two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/liv-golf\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"a98bdd27-b225-4fc9-b7d2-bbff98678a53\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"LIV Golf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LIV Golf League<\/a> events of the 2026 season due to a family health matter.<\/p>\n<p>The six-time major champion will sit out this coming week\u2019s season opener in Riyadh, as well as LIV Golf Adelaide from 12\u201315 February, as he remains at home to support his family.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/phil-mickelson\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"13cac9da-0403-4c81-a5d7-b51317d0a8ff\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Phil Mickelson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mickelson<\/a>, who captains HyFlyers GC, shared the news in a personal statement released on social media.<\/p>\n<p>In Mickelson\u2019s absence, Ollie Schniederjans will step into the HyFlyers GC lineup for the opening event in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>HyFlyers GC is completed by Cameron Tringale, Brendan Steele and new signing Michael LaSasso, with Mickelson expected to return later in the season once the situation allows.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will not be able to participate in the first two LIV Events as Amy and I need to be present for a family health matter,&#8221; wrote Mickelson.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can\u2019t wait to compete again and look forward to rejoining my teammates as soon as possible.
