Peel Regional Police arrested a 20-year-old man on Thursday who is accused of breaking into dozens of vehicles in Mississauga along with additional suspects who have not yet been identified.<\/p>\n
Authorities say they received numerous reports during December 2025 of vehicle break-ins happening in the areas of Kimbermount Avenue, Aquitaine Avenue and Regents Terrace.<\/p>\n
The suspects allegedly stole cash, jewellery and credit cards that were left inside the vehicles.<\/p>\n
Surveillance footage later pointed investigators to Basil Ass\u2019ad of no fixed address. He was arrested on Jan. 26 and was charged with five offences, including 48 counts of mischief over $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000, five counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.<\/p>\n
Police say he faces an additional charge of fraud under $5,000 for attempting to make a purchase with one of the stolen credit cards.<\/p>\n
He was held for a bail hearing. <\/p>\n
Investigators continue searching for an unspecified number of suspects who they believe assisted Ass\u2019ad with the break-ins.
