water advisory has been issued for the Town of Badger, N.L., due to <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/flooding\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">flooding<\/a> and the potential impact on the community\u2019s drinking water system.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The government of <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/newfoundland-and-labrador\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newfoundland and Labrador<\/a> announced on Saturday at 9:30 p.m., that residents are advised to bring all water intended for consumption to a vigorous rolling boil for at least one minute before use.<\/p>\n<p>This includes water used for drinking, brushing teeth, food preparation, cooking, washing fruits and vegetables, making ice, preparing beverages and preparing infant formula or cereal.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" when they happen.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say household water would not need to be boiled for washing, cleaning or bathing.<\/p>\n<p>Residents are encouraged to use safe alternate sources of water for drinking, cooking and other consumption during the advisory.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis Butt, mayor of Badger, said floodwaters have been slowly receding after ice backed up local rivers, but they remain above the riverbanks.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>A state of emergency was declared Wednesday, and the first of a series of partial evacuations began Thursday after the Exploits register with the Red Cross and take shelter at the Badger Community Centre if they had nowhere else to go.<\/p>\n<p>The boil water advisory will remain in effect until the integrity of the water
