Coronation Street<\/a> actor Ryan Mulvey has become a firm favourite on the soap and it turns out he has a rather famous father.<\/p>\n

Ryan made his debut last year as Brody Michaelis<\/a>, one of the fellow teens in the Secure Training Centre (STC) with Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).<\/p>\n

After getting released, it was revealed that Brody was the son of troublemakers Mick (Joe Layton) and Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) who had moved <\/a>to Weatherfield.<\/p>\n

A ton of drama has since followed including Mick\u2019s arrest for killing Craig Tinker<\/a> (Colson Smith<\/a>) in a drunken rage. Lou has also been put behind bars for attacking Gary Windass (Mikey North<\/a>) after he refused to participate in her desperate scheme to extort money from him.<\/p>\n

As for Brody, he has remained on the cobbles after Sally (Sally Dynevor<\/a>) and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) took him in alongside his little sisters, Joanie and Shanice. And while Brody\u2019s life on-screen has been full of drama, off-screen actor Ryan’s family life is the complete opposite as his real father is not just a role model, but a star-maker.<\/p>\n

His father is Eamon Mulvey, who helped train Marcus Rashford<\/a>, as senior academy coach and player development mentor for Manchester United<\/a>. He and his mother Heidi, who is employed by the National Grid, couldn’t be more proud or supportive of their son.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really close to both my parents and my sister, Freya. They are super proud of me,\u201d Ryan previously told The Mirror<\/a>. He added: \u201cDad coaches at the academy at Manchester United and he has an amazing job.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy grandad used to play for Blackburn and my grandma, Carol (his wife) enjoys football more than all of us! There’s a running joke in the family that I have never played football but I always get cast in a game!”<\/p>\n

Ryan didn\u2019t want to follow in his father\u2019s footsteps<\/p>\n

Instead of eagerly following his family into the beautiful game, he rebelled against a career in football. Speaking about his father and grandfather, he says: “They were both very good players, but I was stubborn as a kid.<\/p>\n

“Every person \u2013 because of dad and grandad \u2013 was like ‘you are going to be a footballer’. But, as a kid, I pushed it away and said I wanted to do the opposite.<\/p>\n

“It’s a shame, as I could have the best mentor ever, but everything happens for a reason and I love the job I do now. Playing Brody in Coronation Street<\/a> is a dream come true.”<\/p>\n
