Kid Rock has been named as the headliner for Turning Point USA’s alternate Super Bowl halftime show, as conservative and right-wing viewers plan to boycott Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny’s headlining performance on Sunday, February 8.<\/p>\n

The Detroit rocker and vocal Trump supporter will be joined by Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. The event, dubbed ‘The All-American Halftime Show,’ will air at the same time as the NFL championship game’s halftime show<\/a>. The alternate halftime show kicks off around 8 PM, right when the Album of the Year winner is set to take the stage during the Seattle Seahawks-New England Patriots game<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Turning Point USA was founded by Charlie Kirk in 2012 and has been helmed by his widow, Erika Kirk, since the conservative<\/a> pundit was killed in September.<\/p>\n

The announcement was met with ridicule on social media, with one user writing, “This is embarrassing, just like America right now.” Another quipped, “Damn – I\u2019d be hard pressed to come up with a worse list!”<\/p>\n

When it comes to putting on a competing performance to celebrate “faith, family and freedom,” the Bawitdaba singer stated, “[Bad Bunny] said he\u2019s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old musician went on to say, “We\u2019re approaching this show like David and Goliath. Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible\u2026or is it?”<\/p>\n

The TPUSA show will be streamed across the organization’s social media platforms and broadcast on Daily Wire+, Real America\u2019s Voice, and One America News Network. It will definitely be tough for relatively unknown country artists to compete with the scale of the NFL halftime show, one of the most-watched musical performances on television.<\/p>\n

Last year, over 130 million people tuned in to Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show despite calls from conservatives to boycott the Grammy winner’s performance.<\/p>\n

One Kid Rock critic weighed in on social media, writing, “Imagine how sad it would feel to know you would never perform at the Super Bowl halftime show and had to create a pity event for yourselves.” Another sarcastically commented, “Maybe they should just cancel the Super Bowl, I don\u2019t know how they\u2019ll compete with this list of extraordinary talent.”<\/p>\n
