Commuter train services in and out of Toronto\u2019s downtown are still facing massive delays heading into the late afternoon after a signal issue \u201cdisabled\u201d a train west of Union Station<\/a> during rush hour.<\/p>\n

On Monday morning, provincial transit agency Metrolinx<\/a> said one of its GO trains<\/a> was \u201cdisabled\u201d near Union Station in an incident where no one was injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cRepair personnel are working on the issue as quickly as possible, however there are significant delays throughout the network,\u201d a spokesperson for the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are travelling into Union Station, please consider taking the TTC as an alternate option. UP Express service is currently suspended until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The transit agency said a train leaving Union Station at 8:16 a.m. Monday encountered an issue with the switch signal that led to the rear of the train to \u201ccome off the track at low speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The disabled train had a major impact on travel, reducing service across the board.<\/p>\n

\u201cService has been significantly impacted across the GO and UP Express network and customers can expect continuing delays this evening,\u201d Metrolinx said.<\/p>\n

\u201cService has resumed on the UP Express on a 30-minute schedule and we are confirming a plan for service this evening, which will be communicated in advance of rush hour.\u201d<\/p>\n

Metrolinx said the following services would be in place on Monday evening:<\/p>\n

Lakeshore East Line: 30\u2011minute service.Lakeshore West Line: 30\u2011minute service.Kitchener Line: 30\u2011minute service; no Bramalea turnbacks; express trains will be making all stops.UP Express: Operating on a 30\u2011minute frequency.Milton Line: Four outbound trips from Union at 16:10, 17:10, 18:10, and 19:10, all departing from Track 10.Barrie Line: Hourly bidirectional service.Richmond Hill Line: 60\u2011minute homebound service.Stouffville Line: 60\u2011minute homebound service.<\/p>\n

There is no timeline yet for the train to be moved and normal service to resume.<\/p>\n
