New details have been released in the investigation into the disappearance of Today host Savannah Guthrie\u2019s<\/a> mother as the search enters its third day.<\/p>\n

Nancy Guthrie<\/a>, 84, was last seen Saturday night at her home in the Tucson, Ariz., area, where she lived alone and was reported missing Sunday<\/a>. Authorities believe she was taken against her will.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe she was taken out of the home against her will, and that\u2019s how this investigation is moving,\u201d Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC Nightly News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t think of the last time where, in the middle of the night in someone\u2019s bed, an 84-year-old woman disappeared on us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Nanos clarified that he \u201cmeant that figuratively\u201d when referring to Nancy being abducted from her bed.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\u201c[Nanos] did not mean that she was literally taken from her bed,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s department told NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nanos confirmed investigators found DNA evidence at Nancy\u2019s home, which is being treated as \u201ca crime scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

Authorities found blood inside Nancy\u2019s home, the Los Angeles Times reported<\/a>, citing law enforcement sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took some samples that we hope will have enough of a DNA profile,\u201d Nanos told the\u00a0Today show<\/a> on Feb. 3. \u201cThat will give us some identification as to what we\u2019re looking at.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that it could take several more days before investigators receive anything conclusive from the DNA samples.<\/p>\n

Nanos said that the search for Nancy is \u201ca race against time\u201d and hopes \u201cthat window hasn\u2019t closed\u201d as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n

Nanos said she must be found soon because she could die without her medication, urging whoever has her to free her.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf she\u2019s alive right now, her meds are vital. I can\u2019t stress that enough. It\u2019s been better than 24 hours, and the family tells us if she doesn\u2019t have those meds, it can become fatal,\u201d Nanos said.<\/p>\n

The missing senior has limited mobility, and officials do not believe she left on her own. Nanos said she is of sound mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know she didn\u2019t just walk out of there, that we know,\u201d Nanos said during a Feb. 2 press conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are other things at the site, at the scene, that indicate there was a\u2026 she did not leave on her own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department spokesperson Kevin Adger told the Times that investigators believe Nancy was \u201ctaken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDetectives are looking into a possible kidnapping or abduction,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Investigators found signs of forced entry at Nancy\u2019s home, a person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

They reportedly found specific evidence in the home showing there was a nighttime kidnapping, the person told the outlet. Several of Nancy\u2019s personal items, including her cellphone, wallet and car, were still there after she disappeared.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video from nearby homes is being analyzed by investigators. They are working to analyze data from cellphone towers. Police are reviewing information from licence plate cameras in the area, according to the source, who was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the case and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, for the second day, Today opened with Nancy Guthrie\u2019s disappearance, but her daughter was not at the anchor\u2019s desk.<\/p>\n

On Monday night, Savannah shared a post<\/a> on Instagram, writing, \u201cThank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment \u2026 bring her home.\u201d<\/p>\n

A non-profit group that works with the sheriff\u2019s department in southern Arizona called 88-Crime has offered a reward<\/a> of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved in Nancy\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n
