Bill Maher<\/a> sat down for an interview with Joe Scarborough<\/a> and spoke out about his support of Donald Trump<\/a>, opening the floodgates for major backlash in the comments section of the YouTube clip of their interview.<\/p>\n

When the Morning Joe<\/a> host asked Maher how he felt about people judging him for having dinner with Trump in 2025, he responded, \u201cThey\u2019re not bright. They\u2019re just emotional. It\u2019s pure emotionalism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher explained that he made a point not to judge Trump until after he had been in office for a year during his second term. \u201cHaving been there now for a year, I judge,\u201d he continued. \u201cA lot of things I judge terribly. I just think he\u2019s done a lot of things I absolutely hate.\u201d He went on to list the things Trump has done he does not approve of, including DOGE and \u201ceverything with ICE.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, he added, \u201cThere\u2019s also a shorter list of things that aren\u2019t terrible. That I don\u2019t hate. That I\u2019m glad he did. I\u2019m glad he bombed Iran. The peace deal in the Middle East, getting the hostages out \u2026 there are some things.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then reflected on his meeting with Trump and said the president \u201clistens\u201d when they talk. \u201cAll I can tell you is that my assessment of him is he\u2019s not the worst guy in the world, except when he\u2019s in a fight,\u201d Maher insisted.<\/p>\n

Maher was ripped apart by viewers for his takes. \u201cI can\u2019t believe anyone listens to this joker,\u201d one person commented. Someone else said, \u201cBill Maher\u2019s sane washing of Trump is part of the problem. I think journalistic integrity is to take the side of the truth, not some imaginary midpoint between truth and blatant lies,\u201d and another person wrote, \u201cMaher is an opportunist. He goes wherever the wind blows. Very little convictions. He can\u2019t be trusted with reliable information.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another commenter said, \u201cmaher is a hack. he\u2019s losing viewers by the boatload. no one trusts him as he speaks from both sides of his mouth. he will say whatever makes him money,\u201d and someone else also wrote, \u201cmaher is a hypocrite. he\u2019ll use any situation possible to his advantage in his drive to bring attention to himself.\u201d<\/p>\n
