What impact can celebrity protests have?<\/p>\n
Celebrities added their voice to the protests at the Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n
Billie Eilish, Finneas and Hailey and Justin Bieber all wore \u201cICE out\u201d pins. \u00a0<\/p>\n

A celebrity\u2019s decision to draw attention to a protest can make a difference, said Yohuru Williams, a professor of history and founding director of the Racial Justice Initiative at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it can be very useful and effective because what it does is raises awareness about what\u2019s happening from people who have platforms,\u201d he told CBC Kids News in an interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It puts a spotlight on the injustice and suffering of others and gives them a much larger platform, he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What\u2019s Trump doing about it?<\/p>\n
The day after the Grammy Awards aired, Trump was asked to comment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought the whole Grammys was terrible,\u201d he told a reporter. \u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI watched part of it. It\u2019s not watchable.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He did not comment on the \u201cICE out\u201d pins or the acceptance speeches that commented on his policies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For now, protests against ICE continue in parts of the United States and some politicians are demanding reforms to the department.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But when asked by a reporter if he will pull back on ICE agents in Minneapolis, Trump said, \u201cNo, no. Not at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
