Ian Machado Garry\u2019s wife Layla has put out a message thanking Carlos Prates for defending her honor after a fan encouraged him to insult her.<\/p>\n
Garry and his wife are regularly the focus of online haters and trolls who push all sorts of conspiracy theories<\/a> about Layla sleeping around and \u2018cucking\u2019 Ian. One fan brought this up to Prates during a Q&A session at UFC 325, teeing \u201cThe Nightmare\u201d up to mock Garry.<\/p>\n \u201cHow many times do you reckon you\u2019ve f\u2014ked Ian Garry\u2019s wife?\u201d they asked.<\/p>\n After hearing the translation, Prates shut the fan down.<\/p>\n \u201cWhere I come from, you can\u2019t say bad things about somebody\u2019s wife, they can literally kill you if you say something about the family,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are big rivals inside the cage, but outside of the cage, we have respect for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n That evoked a response from Layla Garry, who took to Instagram to thank Prates for defending her.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you Carlos, this means the world to us,\u201d she wrote. \u201cTo stand on stage encouraged to humiliate and abuse, knowing the crowd may laugh and boost your ego but choosing to be moral and conscious and right. I respect that so so much.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis type of answer should be normal. Should be basic standard but sadly in MMA it\u2019s not so I thank you for setting a better standard and protecting me in this moment. Your voice is more powerful than you can imagine.\u201d<\/p>\n When Shavkat Rakhmonov revealed yet another knee injury<\/a> that would keep him out of the cage for nearly a year, Garry didn\u2019t \u2018set a better standard\u2019 and wish for his former opponent\u2019s quick recovery.
