We all know this from tennis: players are usually allowed to take one bathroom break per match according to official rules. In contrast to a Grand Slam match, however, football games famously last not five, but not even two hours \u2013 including a halftime break, which can of course be used for a trip to the bathroom.<\/p>\n
In the Campeonato Mineiro \u2013 the official state championship of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais \u2013 such a situation still caused a several-minute interruption.<\/p>\n

Initially, it was unclear what had happened when Cruzeiro keeper C\u00e1ssio went to the referee shortly after the start of the second half, exchanged a few words with him, and then sprinted towards the locker room. Even the opposing team Betim looked on with numerous puzzled faces, as there was neither a substitution nor was C\u00e1ssio injured.<\/p>\n
The referee paused the match, and both teams waited for the goalkeeper’s return, which occurred after about four minutes. The 38-year-old returned grinning to his place between the posts, and the game resumed.<\/p>\n

Although there was no official statement, the clip went viral on social media. The unanimous opinion there: The keeper probably missed the chance to go to the bathroom during halftime or simply didn’t think it was necessary. Accordingly, he had to go shortly after the break, where players usually don’t need to go during a game.<\/p>\n
The referee showed leniency in this case and allowed the rather unusual interruption. The match was then able to continue without further incidents.<\/p>\n
