While Chelsea\u2019s first team squad were being dumped out of the EFL Cup by Arsenal, their youngsters were celebrating a big win in the UEFA Youth League.<\/p>\n

The young Blues had enjoyed a very strong group stage campaign, topping the group with five wins and a draw in their six games.<\/p>\n

Jesse Derry has enjoyed a very strong tournament<\/a> so far, while Mahdi Nicoll-Jazulli broke the record for the youngest goalscorer<\/a> for the Blues in that competition.<\/p>\n

Both attacking players started against PSV in the Round of 16, with a strong side that also included Harrison Murray-Campbell, who has trained with the first team on occasion.<\/p>\n

It was fellow exciting youngster Ryan Kavuma-McQueen who opened the scoring for the Blues in the first half, although they were pegged back before half-time.<\/p>\n

After the break, a bizarre decision saw Chizzy Ezenwata sent off for a collision with the goalkeeper, where a yellow card was all that was required. <\/p>\n

The game went to penalties, where a number of Chelsea<\/a> goalscorers had something to say to the PSV shot stopper upon finding the net.<\/p>\n

As Freddy Bernal saved the decisive spot kick, the young Blues immediately celebrated in the face of their opponents.<\/p>\n

Despite the controversial scenes, Chelsea have reached the same stage of the UEFA Youth League as their first team side, who still wait to find out who their opponents will be.<\/p>\n

Derry is one of the youngsters who the club have great hopes for<\/a> in the coming years, after securing his services from Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

There is also a lot of attention on the goalscorer for the young Blues, with other clubs taking note of his magnificent potential.<\/p>\n

Chelsea tied down Kavuma-McQueen to a new contract<\/a> with the club in an attempt to avoid an embarrassing repeat of a 2024 situation.<\/p>\n

The Blues lost Rio Ngumoha due to not being able to agree a contract extension with the youngster, and he has since gone on to<\/p>\n
