The Mariners announced Wednesday that rather than playing the previously scheduled doubleheader at T-Mobile Park on Saturday, June 20, to start a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox, the series will now start on Friday, June 19, with a 7:10 p.m. first pitch. It will also be a fireworks night at the stadium.<\/p>\n
The U.S. men take on Australia in group play that Friday at noon at nearby Lumen Field, the home of the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC.<\/p>\n
The Mariners-Red Sox doubleheader had been scheduled to avoid potential conflicts with the World Cup match. The noon start time for the World Cup game allowed the Mariners to move Game 1 of their series against the Red Sox to Friday, according to release from the team.<\/p>\n
The M\u2019s will continue their three-game set against Boston on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. and the series finale will be at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday.<\/p>\n
June 19 is currently the only time the Mariners are scheduled to play on the same day as any of the six World Cup games being hosted at Lumen Field<\/a>.
