Noel Gallagher<\/a> will attend this year\u2019s BRIT Awards<\/a> to collect the \u2018Songwriter Of The Year\u2019 award after last year\u2019s Oasis<\/a> reunion success.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s ceremony will be taking place at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester<\/a>, Gallagher\u2019s hometown, marking the first time that the event has been held outside of London in its nearly 50-year history.<\/p>\n

A press statement from the BRITs about the award, which recognises \u201cexceptional songwriting\u201d and has previously been won by the likes of Ed Sheeran<\/a>, Kid Harpoon<\/a>, RAYE<\/a> and Charli XCX, <\/a>said: \u201cNoel Gallagher\u2019s songwriting has permeated the fabric of British culture for over 30 years, from his seminal work with Oasis to his ambitious and acclaimed solo albums with Noel Gallagher\u2019s High Flying Birds.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis songs span generations and have continued to resonate with audiences around the world like no other.\u201d<\/p>\n

It continued: \u201cNoel\u2019s songwriting for Oasis defined a cultural movement, delivering seven studio albums and forming a catalogue which contains some of the most recognisable songs in British music history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK added: \u2060\u201cFor more than three decades, Noel has crafted songs that have become part of our collective story \u2013 bold, brilliant, and always recognisable.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis songs have soundtracked memories for multiple generations and defined the spirit of British music globally. Honouring Noel as Songwriter of the Year celebrates a remarkable body of work and a creative force that continues to connect and inspire artists and fans worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently,\u00a0Noel reflected on Oasis\u2018 historic reunion run and fuelled rumours of new music with the admission that he was \u201cback at work\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

The band\u2019s 41-date tour\u00a0began in Cardiff on July 4<\/a> last year and saw them take in five homecoming shows at Manchester\u2019s Heaton Park, seven at Wembley Stadium in London, and gigs across the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Radio 5\u2019s Football Daily <\/a>last month, he was asked about his break post-gigs, prompting Noel to reply:\u00a0\u201cThe holiday was good. But, yeah, back at work on Monday. So it\u2019s all good, mate. It\u2019s all been going great.\u201d As for his busy and successful 2025 with Oasis, he said: \u201cIt went rather well, didn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It comes after\u00a0Oasis announced a \u201cpause\u201d last year as they reflected on their huge \u2018Live \u201825\u2019 reunion tour<\/a>, which\u00a0ended in Brazil<\/a>\u00a0on November 24.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so it came to pass,\u201d wrote the band in a message to fans, before quoting a\u00a0damning article<\/a> written about them previously: \u201c\u2018The most damaging pop cultural force in recent British history\u2019 found its way into the hearts and minds of a new generation.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom Gallagher Hill to the River Plate, from Croke Park on the banks of the Royal Canal to the City Of Angels, the love, joy, tears and euphoria will never be forgotten. There will now be a pause for a period of reflection,\u201d they finished, signing off simply as Oasis.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumours of more tour dates next year, as well as potential new music, have been rife in recent months. Liam recently teased more shows on X<\/a>,\u00a0writing, \u201cI know things you don\u2019t know\u201d to a fan who asked him if he\u00a0was\u00a0sad the tour would\u00a0be ending\u00a0soon.<\/p>\n

And, at the\u00a0last Wembley show of their comeback run in September<\/a>, he\u00a0told fans \u201cSee you next year\u201d before playfully slapping himself on the wrist<\/a>. Then in\u00a0October, a British peer seemed to accidentally reveal that Oasis would be playing Knebworth next summer<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0in what would mark 30 years since the band\u2019s famous shows at the Hertfordshire stately home \u2013\u00a0before backtracking on her\u00a0claims.<\/p>\n

What has been confirmed, however, is that\u00a0a new film documenting Oasis\u2019 return and comeback tour is also on the way, and is being produced by\u00a0Peaky Blinders\u00a0creator Steven Knight<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In other BRIT award news, the nominees have already been announced for this year\u2019s awards<\/a>, with acts like former NME Cover star<\/a> Lola Young<\/a>, Sam Fender<\/a>, Lily Allen<\/a> and Lewisham rapper Jim Legxacy<\/a> leading the way. It has also been confirmed that Harry Styles<\/a>, Wolf Alice<\/a>, and Olivia Dean<\/a> will be among those performing at the live event on Saturday February 28.<\/p>\n

Songwriter and producer Mark Ronson has also been named as the recipient of this year\u2019s award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, and will be at the event in person to both accept the award and perform live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also at the 2026 BRITs, Jack Whitehall is returning to host for the sixth time<\/a>, and this year\u2019s trophy has been unveiled, designed by Matthew Williamson<\/a> and inspired by Manchester.<\/p>\n

Scottish art-folk artist Jacob Alon has been confirmed as the winner of the 2026 BRITs Critics\u2019 Choice Award<\/a>, and the public vote for Song of the Year with Mastercard and International Song of the Year is open now. Visit here<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n

This year, ITV remains the official BRIT Awards broadcaster for the 34th year.
