\"JuneGILBERT, Ariz. \u2013 After claiming wins in three of her four matches since the start of the year, Florida Gulf Coast sophomore June Bjork<\/a> was recognized for her success on the court by earning a No. 112 national ranking in singles.<\/p>\n

Bjork is 6-4 overall this season and has posted a 3-1 record in dual match play. In her most recent singles action, she cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Middle Tennessee’s Rutuja Chaphalkar.<\/p>\n

She is the only Atlantic Sun women’s tennis player to be ranked in the latest national rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), released on Feb. 4.<\/p>\n

This marks the Swedish native’s first time earning a national ranking in collegiate tennis. The sophomore is in her first season at FGCU following her freshman year at SMU, where she went 8-10 on the year and ended the season winning three of her last four completed matches.<\/p>\n

Bjork is the first Eagle to receive a national ranking in singles since Emma Bardet was ranked 96th nationally on Feb. 21, 2023.<\/p>\n

FGCU (4-1) returns to action Friday when the Eagles play at USF (0-2). The Bulls haven’t played a dual match since back-to-back losses on the courts on Jan. 17 at Florida State (6-1) and Jan. 18 at UCF (4-1).<\/p>\n
