Hollywood continues to debate its usage in films, and The Walt <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/disney\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney\" data-tag=\"disney\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney<\/a> Company reportedly scrapped a couple of ideas over the controversy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDisney is working on a live-action remake of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/moana\/\" id=\"auto-tag_moana\" data-tag=\"moana\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moana<\/a>, where Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson will reprise his role of Maui. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn a recent report from The Wall Street Journal, the studio came up with the idea to digitally clone Johnson and use a body double for some shots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cDisney would work with AI company Metaphysic to create deepfakes of Johnson\u2019s face that could be layered on top of Reed\u2019s performance in the footage\u2014a \u2018digital double\u2019 that effectively allowed Johnson to be in two places at once,\u201d WSJ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/media\/disney-ai-hollywood-movies-5982a925\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAlthough the Black Adam star approved the idea, the studio \u201cworried\u201d that they \u201cultimately couldn\u2019t claim ownership over every element of the film if AI generated parts of it.\u201d The film studio and the AI company were seemingly unable to come to terms, and the footage was scrapped.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDisney\u2019s upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/tron-ares\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tron-ares\" data-tag=\"tron-ares\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tron: Ares<\/a> revolves around AI and the real-world implications of it. According to WSJ sources, \u201cexecutives pitched the idea of actually incorporating AI into one of the characters in the sequel to the 1980s hit movie Tron as a buzzy marketing strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe AI-generated character would be a sidekick to Jeff Bridges\u2019 character, but the idea was ultimately scrapped because \u201cexecutives internally were told that the company couldn\u2019t risk the bad publicity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDisney is very protective of its IP, and earlier this year, alongside NBCUniversal, it <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/06\/disney-nbcuniversal-ai-lawsuit-1236430694\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sued AI company Midjourney for copyright infringement<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Artificial Intelligence is coming in full force as technology continues to improve at a rapid pace.
