Call it the product of some awards season burnout and the residual impact of an exhausting Sundance, but we\u2019re starting to get pretty excited about the possibilities of a good, old-fashioned horror movie. With fun! And sisters! And David Cronenberg in an acting role!<\/p>\n
Following their 2019 hit<\/a>, directing duo Radio Silence (aka Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett<\/a>) and their Final Girl for the ages, Samara Weaving, are back for \u201cReady or Not 2: Here I Come.\u201d<\/a> Familiarity with the original film is a must for this one, as it picks up immediately after the events of \u201cReady or Not,\u201d in which blushing bride Grace (Weaving) was shocked to discover she had married into a murderous family that loved nothing more than playing deadly games around their sprawling mansion. Poor Grace, she had no idea what the hell she got into when she picked \u201cHide and Seek\u201d on her wedding night.<\/p>\n More from IndieWire<\/p>\n But, crucially, Grace did get out of all that (too bad it involved the death of her husband and all her in-laws), and so you can imagine she felt pretty good when it was all over. Alas, with the advent of a sequel, it\u2019s clear none of this is actually over.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s the official synopsis courtesy of Searchlight Pictures: \u201cMoments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she\u2019s reached the next level of the nightmarish game \u2014 and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.\u201d<\/p>\n In the film\u2019s latest trailer, we get a better sense of the rules of the game and what the prize is: nothing less than world domination. Neat!
