Drew Barrymore, 50, underwent a gray hair transformation this week, proving silvery shades are nothing to be afraid of.<\/p>\n

The actress and TV host revealed the striking makeover in a new Instagram<\/a> video posted by celebrity hairdresser Chris Appleton, whose client list includes Martha Stewart<\/a> and Kris Jenner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the video, taken from the set of The Drew Barrymore Show, Appleton placed salon capes on Barrymore and One Day at a Time star Valerie Bertinelli, 65.<\/p>\n

Celebrity Hairstylist Chris Appleton transformed the hair of Barrymore and Bertinelli.<\/p>\n

Barrymore, whose hair is usually a warm brunette hue, transformed into a cool-toned gray<\/a> that bordered on white, while Bertinelli swapped her dark brunette for a salt-and-pepper<\/a> shade with lighter face-framing strands (often referred to as \u201cmoney pieces\u201d) at the front.<\/p>\n

In the caption, Appleton wrote, \u201cGray hair\u2026 challenge accepted.\u201d <\/p>\n

He also listed the Schwarzkopf professional hair-color products used in the makeovers, including the Blondeme lightener<\/a> and the demi-permanent Igora dye<\/a>.<\/p>\n

People were quick praise the two \u201csilver sisters\u201d and their new looks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am obsessed with the gray,\u201d one user wrote. Another commented, \u201cThis is fabulous! Welcome to the silver side.\u201d<\/p>\n

An eagle-eyed observer noticed a major detail, however: Bertinelli appeared to be missing her bangs in the \u201cafter\u201d shots, leading to speculation that she and Barrymore were wearing wigs.<\/p>\n

\u201cNahhh im [sic] calling WIG!!!\u201d one person wrote, adding, \u201cIt\u2019s way too shiny and the styles\/cuts are completely different to before!\u201d<\/p>\n

Many fans of the pair\u2019s fresh hair hues were unbothered by whether or not their transformations were achieved with wigs. <\/p>\n

Paulina Porizkova, a 1980s supermodel, commented on the post, \u201cI can\u2019t tell if this is for real, but damn, the silver looks amazing on both!\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2024, Barrymore told People magazine<\/a> that she was not yet ready to embrace her gray hair, instead launching a copper hair dye shade in collaboration with Garnier Nutrisse. <\/p>\n

\u201cI do love that [gray] is trending and looks so beautiful and is like a fashion statement. But I just don\u2019t feel ready to go down that road. I\u2019m only 48, so it\u2019s not completely gray, but I definitely have a lot of gray hairs,\u201d Barrymore said.<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cBut I can also keep dyeing it. I don\u2019t really care if I look like a Just For Men ad when I\u2019m older.\u201d<\/p>\n
