Incredibly, No Limit\u2019s successful Paro bid pipped Hearn\u2019s Matchroom by just $27,000.<\/p>\n
Initially, both promoters lodged private purse bids which were the unveiled during an early morning zoom call involving IBF executives and representatives of both camps.<\/p>\n
The Rose boys lodged a bid of $1.152M.<\/p>\n
Hearn\u2019s stable, meanwhile, offered $1.125M<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd the Matchroom offer was read out first,\u201d Rose cackled. \u201cSo I can tell you, waiting for the number that came after one million, one hundred \u2026 it felt like an eternity\u201d.<\/p>\n
But once it had?<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t need to wait and hear ours,\u201d he grins. \u201cBut it was hard to control our excitement.\u201d<\/p>\n
Regardless, No Limit are now looking to finalise a date and Australian venue for the bout, with late March or early April being the most likely.<\/p>\n

Asked about winning the Paro purse bid, Rose said: \u201cThis is the biggest purse win by an Australian boxing promoter ever.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s huge.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not only great to get the win, but also by such a close margin.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then to do it against Matchroom, which Barry Hearn has built into a huge global entity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, they\u2019ve got a lot more money than we do.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd that\u2019s the reality we find ourselves with these situations, we\u2019re always competing against billionaires, competing with old money \u2026 and to step up against a global company and get the win is a tremendous result.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only for us, but Liam Paro.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe promised we\u2019d get him to a world title and he said he wanted it in Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd now we\u2019ve been able to deliver on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Quizzed on when he heard the news, Paro laughed: \u201cI woke up to my alarm around 6.30 in the morning and saw a million missed calls from Alfie [Di Carlo, trainer].<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd they\u2019d all been sent around 4am.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo he wasn\u2019t wasting any time in telling me.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then when I called him back, he nearly blasted my ear drum. It\u2019s all just so crazy.<\/p>\n
\u201cStill feels unreal, really.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut ever since signing with No Limit I spoke about wanting to fight for a world title here and now we have that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rose also confirmed he was keen to have one of the Tszyu boys sharing the card, while stressing both were also now in line to face Hearn\u2019s new IBF super welterweight champ Kelly later this year.<\/p>\n
Last weekend in England, Kelly punched his way to an upset decision win over reigning IBF king Bakhram Murtazaliev \u2013 who was having his first fight since famously knocking out Tim Tszyu in 2024.<\/p>\n

Currently, the top three contender spots in the IBF super welterweight rankings are vacant, with Nikita Tszyu then in sixth spot, and older brother Tim only slightly further behind at No.9. <\/p>\n
While Nikita is coming off a contentious No Contest against Michael Zerafa, older brother Tim is already back training under new coach Pedro Diaz in Miami, Florida \u2013 having returned to the winner\u2019s circle with a strong decision win over American Anthony Velazquez in December.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd both Tszyu boys are close to fighting again,\u201d Rose said. \u201cThey\u2019ve told us they want to be active and it would be great to have one of them join Liam\u2019s world title card.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously we\u2019ve only just won the purse bid so we\u2019ll have to see where everything is at and which of them might be available first.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exact make up of the card — even the time and date — isn\u2019t locked in yet.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we\u2019re working on that furiously and hope to have an announcement next week.\u201d<\/p>\n
And as for having both Paro and a Tszyu taking on Matchroom\u2019s best this year?<\/p>\n
\u201cJosh Kelly and Lewis Crocker are both UK champs from Matchroom,\u201d Rose grinned.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd we\u2019d love to knock \u2018em both off.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst, we\u2019ll be looking for Liam Paro to beat Crocker.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we\u2019ve also got an eye firmly on Josh Kelly too, with both Tim and Nikita ranked inside the top 10.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut most importantly, it will be when our guys are ready to take that shot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ironically, Paro was previously managed by Hearn\u2019s Matchroom promotions.<\/p>\n
After initially upsetting IBF super lightweight champion Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico, the Queenslander was forced to go back there for his first defence against America\u2019s Richardson Hitchins \u2013 which he lost by split decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut had Liam had the opportunity to defend in Australia,\u201d Rose stressed, \u201cI firmly believe he never loses that fight.<\/p>\n
\u201cDefending here at home, he would\u2019ve been so much harder to beat.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd so now to be fighting in a world title bout at home, as the challenger \u2026 it provides you with so many little advantages.<\/p>\n
