It wasn\u2019t the best way to start the day for a Vancouver driver who was the victim of an alleged carjacking that ended poorly for the suspect involved.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old suspect is in hospital and police custody after the alleged carjacking that occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 5.<\/p>\n
According to details shared by the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), a driver was forced from his vehicle before the alleged carjacker crashed into another vehicle and flipped the stolen car on its roof.<\/p>\n
Police responded early Thursday morning after reports that a good Samaritan helped a person who seemed to be in distress near Granville Street and West 37th Avenue.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe car-owner agreed to drive the stranger to the police station,\u201d VPD said.<\/p>\n
Once the alleged carjacker got into the vehicle, police say the suspect pulled a weapon on the driver, forced him out of the car and drove away.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspect eventually collided with another vehicle before flipping the stolen car on its roof and coming to a stop near Granville Street and Broadway,\u201d VPD added.<\/p>\n
An off-duty Vancouver Police officer happened to witness the carjacking and was able to help arrest the carjacker, as other VPD officers were responding to the scene.<\/p>\n
VPD said that the victim didn\u2019t sustain any serious physical injuries.<\/p>\n
