The Langley RCMP says that a 47-year-old motorcyclist died on Sunday after losing control in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 1.<\/p>\n
Mounties say the man riding his motorcycle was travelling westbound between 264th and 248th streets around 8:30 p.m. before crashing into a semi-trailer truck moving in the same direction.<\/p>\n
The BC Highway Patrol says several units from the Langley RCMP, the BC Emergency Health Services, and the Township of Langley Fire Department attended the scene.<\/p>\n
Police say, despite life-saving efforts, the 47-year-old man died at the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cGiven the scope of our investigation and loss of life, we have to ensure that we conduct a very thorough investigation,\u201d RCMP Sgt. Zainal Sharum said.<\/p>\n
He says the highway was very busy at the time of the fatal crash.<\/p>\n
\u201cLots of witnesses in the area, they are all cooperating with us,\u201d Sharum explained.<\/p>\n
And one of those cooperating was the driver of the Semi-trailer truck, who was not physically injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, we will be looking at all aspects of it, so we are looking for witnesses who may not have spoken to investigators,\u201d Sharum said.<\/p>\n
Police are also asking witnesses for available dashcam footage.<\/p>\n
The rescue efforts and investigation shut down a part of the highway for more than six hours.<\/p>\n
Mounties are not yet releasing the name of the deceased.<\/p>\n
