Battaglia said sales in the Greater Toronto Area \u201ccontract[ed] 9.9% seasonally adjusted from December,\u201d the fourth straight monthly decline, while new listings \u201cpicked up marginally (1.1% SA), adding to the stockpile of inventory sitting idle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The MLS Composite Home Price Index \u201cremained on a downtrend through January, dropping 8% from a year ago \u2013 the 22nd consecutive decline and sharpest drop in three years,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Calgary \u2013 until recently Canada\u2019s standout seller\u2019s market \u2013 was not spared from price pressure.
