It was scheduled to begin in Sao Paulo, Brazil, before hitting Mexico and various European locales before landing in Alaska in September. Unfortunately, none of that will happen. The band <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DUZhpdlEflU\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shared a statement<\/a> confirming that the shows had been cancelled \u201c[d]ue to the sudden and unexpected resignation of Twisted Sister\u2019s lead singer Dee Snider brought out by a series of health challenges.\u201d The post continues, \u201cThe future of Twisted Sister will be determined in the next several weeks. Stay tuned for updates.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a separate statement, Snider shared more details about the health issues that keep him from touring. \u201cA lifetime of legendarily aggressive performing has taken its toll on Dee Snider\u2019s body and soul. Unbeknownst to the public (until now), Snider (70) suffers from degenerative arthritis and has had several surgeries over the years just to keep going, able to only perform a few songs at a time in pain,\u201d reads a statement from Snider (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynvegan.com\/twisted-sister-cancel-50th-anniversary-tour-after-dee-snider-resigns-due-to-health-challenges\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">via BrooklynVegan<\/a>). \u201cAdding insult to injury, Dee has recent found out the level of intensity he has dedicated to his life\u2019s work has taken its toll on his heart as well. He can no longer push the boundaries of rock \u2018n\u2019 roll fury like he has done for decades. Says Snider, \u2018I don\u2019t know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I\u2019d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.\u2019 In the immoral words of Dirty Harry, \u2018A man\u2019s got to know his limitations.\u2019 Sadly, Dee Snider now knows his.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Twisted Sister last performed in 2023 for their induction into the Metal Hall Of Fame.
