A Coquitlam secondary school was placed under a precautionary lockdown on Friday following another threat, the school district says.<\/p>\n

Centennial Secondary was under lockdown for a few hours, but that how now been lifted, according to a post on the district\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

The threat, which was called in, was received by multiple schools, the district says and it also resulted in GOAL and Vanier, across the street from Centennial, to also be placed in lockdown.<\/p>\n

Coquitlam RCMP said in a release that it continues to receive reports of alleged threats against schools in Coquitlam, but to date, no corroborating information or evidence has been identified indicating students or staff were at risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand the frustration and concern that the public may feel in response to these incidents,\u201d Coquitlam RCMP media relations officer, Sgt. Adriana O\u2019Malley said in a release. \u201cHowever, we want to remind the public that these incidents are designed to create fear and gain publicity. Publicly circulating or amplifying unverified information can contribute to further disruptions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Friday incident follows several similar incidents throughout the week.<\/p>\n

Two schools, including Centennial Secondary, were placed under a hold and secure<\/a> on Thursday due to threats received.<\/p>\n

The two incidents on Thursday followed similar incidents on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Eight schools across Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam were placed under a hold and secure on Wednesday after numerous threats were called into the schools.<\/p>\n

An elementary school in Port Moody was also affected.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our ongoing investigation, we confirmed that these instances are connected,\u201d Insp. Todd Balaban, acting officer in charge of the Coquitlam RCMP, said on Thursday. \u201cWe can confirm the nature of the alleged threats have varied, but in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, no information will be provided.<\/p>\n

It is not known if the Friday lockdown at Centennial and the other two sites are connected to the previous incidents.<\/p>\n

Coquitlam RCMP General Investigation Section has conduct of these active and ongoing investigations. Making a false police report is a criminal offence and investigators are working to identify the individual(s) responsible so they can be held accountable, RCMP said.<\/p>\n
