STOCKTON, Calif. \u2013 The women’s tennis program showed a lot of fight and determination but could not pull out enough rallies to take down San Jose State, falling to the Spartans 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.<\/p>\n
The Tigers (0-5) started out doubles on the wrong end of two competitive matches. Junior Rayna Sugai<\/a> and sophomore Maggie Hoe<\/a> did defeat their opponents on doubles court two to give Pacific a shot at the doubles point but losses on courts one and three put the team in a comeback position.<\/p>\n Once in singles, junior Indiya McLeod<\/a> battled back from a first set loss to take a point on court two from the Spartans (3-0) but straight set losses on courts one, five and six dashed the comeback bid. The team is off until Sunday, February 15 when the program wraps up the five match homestand with a bout with Sacramento State at 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n FULL RESULTS

\nOn courts three and four, Sugai and freshman Pauline Lerminiaux<\/a> took their opponents to a third set but came out on the wrong side of the battle. McLeod’s triumph gave her her third win of the season and improved her record to 3-2 on court two.<\/p>\n
