\"Frank <\/a>Frank Annoh-Dompreh is the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament<\/p>\n

The Minority Chief Whip in <\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a>, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has urged the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson<\/a>, to brief <\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a> on the escalating cost of living in the country.<\/p>\n

He made the call during his contribution to the presentation of the Business Statement for the ensuing week by the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga<\/a>, on Friday, February 6, 2026.<\/p>\n

Speaking in <\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a>, Annoh-Dompreh highlighted the sharp increase in the prices of essential commodities.<\/p>\n

\u201cCost of living has gone through the roof. Prices of items, including yam, gari, tomatoes, and others, have all gone through the roof stressing the urgent need for government intervention,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He called on <\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a> to schedule a session for the finance minister to update legislators on measures being taken to curb inflation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we should program the finance minister to come and brief the House on the measures taken to curb this, emphasising the importance of timely action to address public concerns,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He noted that in previous engagements, Dr Forson had been active in discussing economic matters directly with market stakeholders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time before he presented the budget statement, he was all over the place talking to Makola market women. Now is the time he should come and brief us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Minority Chief Whip\u2019s remarks come amid growing public anxiety over rising food and commodity prices, as <\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a> prepares for a busy week of business and policy discussions.<\/p>\n

The MPs are expected to debate key economic issues and may consider scheduling the finance minister\u2019s briefing in response to the concerns raised.<\/p>\n
