RICHMOND, Ky. \u2013 James Madison returned to the court after a near three-week layoff and was able to secure one singles win before dropping a 4-1 decision to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday morning at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.

\nThe Colonels evened their record to 5-5, while the Dukes fell to 0-2 on the season.

\nEKU secured the doubles point and registered singles wins on courts one, two and four to clinch the match. Aurelien Schmitt<\/a> claimed a straight-set victory on court three for JMU’s lone point.
\n\u00a0
\nHost EKU grabbed the early 1-0 lead with doubles victories on court two (6-1) and three (6-2).
\n\u00a0
\nIn singles play, Schmitt evened the match at 1-1, as he rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win against Joao Barreto on court three. Shortly after, Fernando Bulnes took a 6-2, 6-3 win from Esteve Agusti<\/a> on court two to give EKU the lead for good.

\nOn court one, Nuno Pinheiro was able to slip past Ryan Morgan<\/a> by scores of 6-4, 6-3, rallying in the second to make it a 3-1 lead. The clinching point came on court four, as Ilie Cazac pulled away in the third set to beat Francisco Sinopoli<\/a>, at 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

\nTwo other matches went unfinished, as Zach Fleishman<\/a> led Adrian Contreras on court five (6-2) while Kartik Parhar was a set up on Harrison Lee<\/a> on court six (7-5).

\nJMU heads to Louisville to face Bellarmine on Sunday, Feb. 8 in a 10:30 start at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
