Paulina Porizkova\u00a0is exposing<\/a> some dark secrets of the high-fashion world, claiming that her rise to superstardom was paved with uncomfortable encounters.<\/p>\n

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit legend, now 60, detailed the normalization of sexual harassment<\/a> she allegedly faced as a teenager, saying the very people tasked with managing her career often sent her into compromising situations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started modeling at 15 in Paris on a summer break from school,\u201d Porizkova shared in a video clip posted to\u00a0Instagram.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cAnd every day I was sent on four to 10 so-called \u2018go-and-sees.\u2019 You go, and they see \u2014 all over the city \u2014 by myself, with no knowledge of the language or the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Czechoslovakia-born model<\/a> explained that while some meetings were professional, many others were far from it.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes the people I was seeing were well-dressed and in offices, and sometimes they were middle-aged guys in messy apartments who just wanted to take a few casual photos of me \u2014 you know, preferably topless,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve lost count of the amount of men in open bathrobes who greeted me in their hotel rooms or apartments where I have been sent by an agency or clients.\u201d<\/p>\n

Porizkova, who made history in 1984 as the first Central European woman to land a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, noted that the advances were not limited to messy apartments.<\/p>\n

She recalled well-dressed older men frequently inviting her to parties, yachts and tropical villas.<\/p>\n

For years, the supermodel believed<\/a> these encounters were simply part of the paycheck.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took it all for granted,\u201d Porizkova admitted, \u201cthat my job was to take my clothes off, put my clothes back on and then learn how to creatively fend off horny men so that you don\u2019t offend them and lose a job.\u201d<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until the 1990s, while watching a segment on Oprah Winfrey\u2019s talk show about sexual harassment in the workplace, that she realized her own experiences qualified as harassment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI looked at my girlfriend and said, \u2018That\u2019s sexual harassment? I thought that was compliments,\u2019\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her vulnerability as a child in a high-stakes industry, the \u201cNo Filter: The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful\u201d author emphasized how easily children can be manipulated by those in power.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you take a child and you put them in any situation, that child will adapt. If an adult tells you that this is how it\u2019s supposed to be, well, then who are you, the child, to protest? And this makes the child the easiest target,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd if you\u2019re unsure of how old exactly a child is to be a child, well, then you either don\u2019t have one or you don\u2019t have the humanity to remember being one.\u201d<\/p>\n

The supermodel captioned her social media post with the hashtags \u201c#Epstein,\u201d \u201c#EpsteinFiles\u201d and \u201c#Justice.<\/p>\n

She has also transitioned into a successful writing career, releasing her\u00a0debut novel, \u201cA Model Summer,\u201d in 2007 and her candid nonfiction book in 2022, \u201cNo Filter.\u201d<\/p>\n
