The Baltimore Orioles<\/a> whiffed on Framber Valdez, who looked like he\u2019d become the new ace of the staff, finally replacing the void left by Corbin Burnes. Now, the O\u2019s will have to pivot quickly, most likely with a trade.<\/p>\n

Fansided\u2019s Mark Powell<\/a> proposes that the O\u2019s make a move that could kill two birds with one stone; get them a star, while dealing a psychological blow to a division rival. He believes the O\u2019s should make a deal with the Minnesota Twins<\/a> for All-Star ace Joe Ryan.<\/p>\n

Orioles get: RHP Joe Ryan<\/p>\n

Twins get: OF Dylan Beavers, 3B Coby Mayo, RHP Trey Gibson<\/p>\n

\u201cWould the Orioles make this trade? I’d sure hope so! In Ryan, the Orioles get a starting pitcher they can build around, which is something they’ve been lacking the last few seasons. Even Corbin Burnes couldn’t fill that void. Sure, losing some prospect capital hurts. Beavers is a top-70 overall prospect and at just 24 years old, should be MLB-ready and gives the Twins a logical replacement for Buxton should they wish to trade him as well. Mayo has struggled at the MLB level, but he’s a former top-100 prospect as well who can play first or third. In Gibson, Baltimore would fork over their best starting pitching prospect.,\u201d Powell wrote.<\/p>\n

This past season, Ryan posted a 13-10 record, a 3.42 ERA, 194 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.035 over 171 innings pitched. Add him to the new look O\u2019s rotation led by a breakout Trevor Rogers, and the Orioles pitching staff becomes pretty scary.<\/p>\n

He\u2019d also be cheap<\/a>, and for an O\u2019s team that went deep in their pockets this offseason, that would be great. Plus, he has a mutual option for only $13 million next season, and if Ryan likes Baltimore, he could be willing to accept it.<\/p>\n

Finally, the blow to a division rival comes in the form of the Boston Red Sox<\/a>. The Red Sox were active buyers for him at the trade deadline last season, with some people even mistakenly reporting it happened. If they were to lose him to a division rival, it would hurt all the more.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, the O\u2019s propose this trade soon, as Spring Training is right around the corner.<\/p>\n
