{"id":462634,"date":"2026-02-08T23:18:17","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T23:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/462634\/"},"modified":"2026-02-08T23:18:17","modified_gmt":"2026-02-08T23:18:17","slug":"lindsey-vonn-recalls-obstacles-that-halted-f1-racing-dream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/462634\/","title":{"rendered":"Lindsey Vonn recalls obstacles that halted F1 racing dream"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>American Winter Olympics icon Lindsey Vonn recalled how she almost made a switch to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a> only to be hampered by \u201ccan\u2019t get pregnant\u201d stipulation.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 edition of the Winter Olympics are underway, with Vonn agonisingly crashing out on her comeback run at the downhill competition in Cortina, and sustaining a fractured leg.<\/p>\n<p>The 41-year-old, who has carved out a niche for her in Alpine ski-racing, had also been nursing a ruptured ACL, sustained in her final race before the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/redbull\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red Bull<\/a> athlete, the 2010 downhill Gold medallist, in fact, is more than nifty behind a steering wheel as well. <\/p>\n<p>During a 2020 episode of In depth with Graham Bensinger, she recalled how she almost made a switch to single-seater racing and was on her way to F1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI drove in Spielberg in Austria on the\u00a0Formula 1\u00a0track,\u201d she said. \u201cAnother time, on the autobahn, we went 130mph. I was with [three-time alpine skiing Olympic champion] Maria Hofl-Reisch, driving her\u00a0Audi\u00a0R8.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a good stretch south of Munich where there\u2019s no speed limit, and she was like \u2018Come on, Lindsey, you\u2019re not going very fast.\u2019 Of course, I then had to show her what was up!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut on the racing track, we went much faster.
