\n\t\u201cMarty Supreme<\/a>,\u201d an R-rated sports dramedy starring Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet, officially ranks as A24<\/a>\u2018s highest-grossing worldwide release of all time. The film has generated a mighty $147 million globally, including $93 million in the United States and $54 million overseas. Those ticket sales have surpassed the Oscar best-picture winner \u201cEverything Everywhere All at Once\u201d ($142 million) and Alex Garland\u2019s dystopian thriller \u201cCivil War\u201d ($127 million worldwide), which previously stood as A24\u2019s biggest movies at the worldwide box office. <\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this year, \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d earned the distinction of A24\u2019s highest-grossing domestic release<\/a>, overtaking the benchmark held by \u201cEverything Everywhere\u201d with $77 million. It took the film just a few extra weeks to notch the global distinction.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd its global tally will keep rising because \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d has yet to open in several big international territories, according to A24. The studio shelled out $70 million on production costs (the most the arthouse company has ever spent on a film) before accounting for marketing expenses. So the movie\u2019s box office staying power has been a relief since theater owners get to keep about half of ticket sales.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMarty Supreme\u201d opened in the U.S. and Canada on Christmas Day to $27 million over the extended holiday period. Chalamet was vital in drumming up the momentum<\/a> for the original film, which remained a theatrical draw due to rave reviews and stellar word of mouth. Directed by Josh Safdie, the frenetic adventure follows Chalamet as the fictional ping-pong champ Marty Mauser, who puts himself through the wringer to pursue his dream of becoming a table-tennis champ. Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A\u2019zion, Kevin O\u2019Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher co-star in the film.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMarty Supreme\u201d has been a major awards player, with Chalamet winning the Golden Globe and Critics Choice for best actor. The film has been nominated for nine Oscars, including best picture, lead actor for Chalamet and director for Safdie.<\/p>\n
