RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Minnesota men’s golf team concluded day one of the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club, Monday.<\/p>\n

The Golden Gophers finished 15th among the field with a team score of 2-under-par (286) through round one.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Notable Performances:\u00a0

\nFreshman Joe Honsa<\/a> led the team with a score of 2-under-par (70), including two birdies. Honsa picked up his third eagle of the season on the fifth hole, helping him finish tied for 33rd among all golfers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sophomore Jack Crousore<\/a> and senior Jack Wetzel<\/a> finished 1-under-par (71). Each Gopher birdied the second and 15th holes, including another from Wetzel on the 18th hole. The two tied for 45th place to end the day.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu<\/a> carded a score of 2-over-par (74). He collected four birdies through the first 18 holes, the most among the team.<\/p>\n

Senior Cormac Sharpe<\/a> finished 4-over-par (76), picking up a birdie on the third hole.<\/p>\n
